Midtown East & West
Midtown-East, the epitome of a City Center, spans all of the real estate between 31ast and 59th Streets since, unlike any other neighborhood, it lies between both rivers–though please mentally remove Sutton Place as part of this international marketplace–since that oh-so refined, residential, isolated, completely differentfragment of the domain is in no way germane to such a picture. Instead to name a few we’re talking Empire State, United Nations, Chrysler Building, Rockefeller Center, MOMA, the swanky store-stuffed parts of Fifth Avenue, the sparkling star-stuffed parts of Broadway, Times Square, a burgeoning second Financial District, three of the four major U.S. TV studios, more skyscrapers in one place than anywhere else and The Plaza. All may become your very own selfie backdrop when strolling the terrain for amazing finds as here we go–swerve East to boutiques on Madison, Lexington or Third; swerve West to boutiques on 7th and beyond.
The younger set reign at Blue Bench on Third where exclusive furniture can be theirs though not for a song. For such a monetary vocalization there’s Buy Buy Baby on 7th. And, if you don’t mind being squished, you may find beautiful, half-off Italian toddler dresses at Daffy’s on Madison. While making tracks on that avenue’s short blocks don’t forget to pick up a well-fitting, well-priced shirt for your man or son at Kamakua. Then eventually–grant yourself permission to wend a way over to aforementioned Sutton Place of the east 50’s to observe enormous mansions and other grass-encircled buildings surviving from earlier times as exquisite reminders of what homes for the ultra-wealthy once were and, for the few, still are.
